The primary goal in performing root canal procedures is to disinfect. Traditional techniques are through chemical (irrigation) and mechanical means. Implementing a laser into therapy has allowed for enhanced or advanced irrigation. This gives us more predictable and more efficient disinfection. With a laser and unlike other advanced irrigation techniques, we get better fluid dynamics, cavitation bubbles reaching into lateral canals, and we can specifically target the apical third (the deepest part of the root canal and where most traditional failures occur).
